You know what they say about buses? That you wait for ages and then three come along together? Well we feel a bit like that at Red Kite Services this month as yet another website has gone live, our third in as many weeks.
This time we were delighted to be asked to complete a website facelift for the crime writer Helen Cadbury. The brief was to clean up her website to separate out information and reviews about her books and leave space to add her third book when that is imminent. She wanted the colours to reflect the cover of the second book in the Sean Denton series, Bones in the Nest.
Helen also speaks at a number of events and she wanted it to be easy to add events and to feature them throughout the site. Helen highlighted some of the author websites she liked and we built the new site to reflect these ideas. Most of the copy and images were already on the website, so we did the turnaround on this site in less than a week, simply putting up a maintenance page in the meantime. Once again we used the Avada template, which we love because of it’s flexibility. This time we have used the columns function on the front page and the tables function on the book pages to keep the design clean and tidy.
As an author it was important to have Helen’s most recent blog posts prominent, so we set them to go on the front page. We have also highlighted Helen’s blogs for other websites by utilising a testimonials plug-in – a bit cheeky but it works!
We were delighted by the feedback on Helen’s facebook page, particularly about how good the site looked on a mobile ‘phone.
