Did you know that 1 in 5 men and women experience some form of domestic abuse, according to the Office for National Statistics?

This means that there is a chance that people in your workforce are experiencing it. Domestic abuse is one of the last taboos that very few people are willing to speak about whether they are victims or not.

The impact of domestic abuse on those experiencing it is immense. Most people experiencing it suffer in silence, through feelings of guilt or shame or fear of the perpetrator. Some people don’t even know that they are victims of domestic abuse, so insidious are its many forms.

The financial cost to businesses in England and Wales is thought to be £14 billion a year (Home Office, 2019) through lost productivity caused by time off work due to domestic abuse.
